Massage Parlour Licensing

Massage Parlour Licensing has failed. Toronto has 400 body rub parlours when it intended for only 25. Now the municipalities might lose all their powers to the Supreme Court ruling.

The licensing of holistic spas is a mess. 400 spas are operating with bogus paperwork. The municipality has allowed it to happen for so long that it has reached a point of consent.

Worst off are all the legitimate holistic providers. The Toronto Star and Craigslist are overrun with exotic parlours. Getting rid of the erotic section was a stupid move that had little chance of succeeding.

The 9pm closing time is another fiasco. In a large metropolis, its difficult for many people to arrive at their favourite spa before 9pm. 11pm is much more reasonable.

The 9pm is unevenly enforced. Despite losing in court including an appeal, they are allowed to stay open all night. Meanwhile the holistic centres are ticketed if they open after 9pm.

A new lincense category is needed. All the holistic spas should be able to get Alternative license for $100.
