New Massage Parlour at Birmingham Brothel Site

BUNNYS new massage parlour has opened on the site of notorious former brothel Cuddles, which was closed down four years ago following a police raid.

Bunnys is now operating from the same premises in Bearwood, Smethwick, Birmingham advertising itself as formerly Cuddles Sauna and claiming to offer a “specialist massage service”.

According to the Hagley Road sauna’s website it operates from midday until 5am, describing itself as an “exclusive massage parlour” and “the ultimate gentlemen’s club where you can relax and enjoy yourselves whilst receiving all types of special attention from the ladies”.

Staff at the club said they were hoping to restore its reputation as a legitimate massage parlour and stressed it has nothing to do with Cuddles, or the former owners of Cuddles. A spokesman, who did not wish to be named, said: “We’ve just taken over and we’ve taken the place on hoping to give it a good reputation.

“It is a legitimate massage parlour. The neighbouring businesses are happy and it is good to be back open and we’re looking after the local people.”

Cuddles, which previously ran from the premises, was raided by around 50 officers in September, 2005, when 19 women from 10 different countries were discovered working as sex slaves. Owner Carl Pritchett was given a two-year jail sentence in 2006 and in August of this year he was ordered to pay back £2 million of his ill-gotten gains.

Pritchett, from Holbeache Road in Wall Heath, Dudley, was hit with a confiscation order issued at Wolverhampton Crown Court and told he would face seven years in jail if he failed to pay within seven years.

The court heard papers found at the brothel showed it had an average of 490 clients a week, bringing in an estimated £6m profit in six years, reduced to £3.5m on the evidence of an employee. Pritchett set up Cuddles in 1999 with money made from another brothel in Selly Oak, bought in 1991 in his mother’s name but using his money, the court was told.
